Remição de pena pela leitura: análise do projeto “ler liberta”

Abstract

Considering the reality of the prison system, and especially its fundamental role of social reintegration / reintegration, having as one of the alternatives the remission of the sentence for reading, object of this study, it was noticed the need to study the recommendation of the National Congress of Justice No 44/2013. Using reading as a way to reduce the penalty reintegrate grieving the society has its importance to study in the branch of Criminal Law. In this way, the objective of this research is to analyze the remission of sentence by reading, in view of the Project "Read Liberta" - Faculty of Law of Vitória, where we identified, through the reading of the reviews already produced, view of the participants regarding the importance of reading and other changes that are intrinsic to the adoption of reading. The final considerations of this research are in the sense that reading is a way to transform the imprisoned individual and decrease their idleness, as well as an almost fundamental tool for the development of knowledge. The reviews analyzed confirm that reading plays an important role in shifting the perspective of the inmate as it is an opportunity to engage with the world of reading.
