Violência doméstica contra a mulher no Espírito Santo: um estudo da aplicação da Lei Maria da Penha

Abstract

Brazilian society is based on a patriarchal system, which establishes a hierarchical role of men in relation to women. In this sense, gender violence arises, using the differences between what it is to be a woman and what it is to be men to diminish them. In this sense, domestic violence is a form of gender violence. With the naturalization of violence, this social violence was invisible. With the objective of recognizing the rights of women who have been violated, the Maria da Penha Law comes up with the aim of combating and preventing domestic violence. In this sense, the objective of the present study is to analyze the application and effectiveness of this law in the context of the state of Espírito Santo. For this, the social context in which this law is inserted, data on domestic violence, as well as empirical approximation from the testimonies of victims of aggression will be analyzed.
