"Quando a mulher negra se movimenta, toda a estrutura da sociedade se movimenta com ela": a importância da teoria e militância de Angela Davis para (re)pensar os feminismos no Brasil

Abstract

The present study looks at the political trajectory of Angela Davis and how her theories contribute to rethinking feminisms in Brazil. In order to do so, five main points will be faced, which will allow the realization of approximations and distancing with the process of struggle for the rights of black women in Brazil. In the first point, it is important to clarify what constitutes gender oppression and what is the need for the existence of a feminist group with a specific focus on the reality of the black woman. Secondly, it will be necessary to analyze the legacies of violence left by slavery and the strategies for their deconstruction. The third point concerns the integration of the black people after the formal abolition of black slavery. In the fourth reflection, the objective will be the comprehension reach of how the factors of gender, race and class relate and what feasibility to work with such concepts separately. In the fifth point, an analysis will be made of how women's work is appreciated by society and how black women participate in politics. After the confrontation of these points, a parallel can be made with the Brazilian historical process, explaining how the construction and perpetuation of racial, gender and class violence in Brazil took place, as well as, it will be possible to make notes on the influence of Angela Davis's thinking on the various fronts of the black feminist movement in Brazil. Finally, a brief survey will be made on the participation of women in Brazilian politics.
