“Suas fotos estão bombando no whatsapp”: um estudo de caso de violência contra a mulher em meio digital

Abstract

The present research seeks to bring a new look on the reality that surrounds us and that can no longer be dissociated from the complexity and dangers that involve the advances of technological communication tools. Digital abuse has its own contours due to the use of technologies and virtual fields, making it a peculiar form of aggression, since, in these cases, the control of time, space and spectators becomes almost non-existent. It can not be denied that physical, moral, sexual, psychological violence frontally violates personality rights and fundamental rights safeguarded by the homeland constitution to individuals, such as the rights to intimacy, privacy, freedom, honor and image, health physical and psychological as well as the dignity of the human person. Thus, it is necessary to understand how the advances of the communicational tools influenced the transformation of the relations between the individuals and of these towards the internal and external world, encompassing the circulation of goods, services, information and images. To do this, first, the study will address the transformations that underwent social relations, evidencing the advancement and prevalence of consumer society in the modern world. This is followed by an analysis of the way in which technological advances have impacted the social interactions, established physically and virtually between peers, and how they, through their constant use, allowed the process of increment of these new technological tools in your daily life. Finally, the analysis of a concrete case, carried out by different news sites, will be carried out in order to demonstrate one of the ways in which the use of informational networks, in spite of bringing comfort and convenience, can negatively impact the life of its users, primarily to women.
