Arte-protesto: um estudo do papel da música de protesto na democratização da sociedade brasileira

Abstract

The present work seeks to understand the diverse forms of protest that exist, being these legitimized by the fundamental rights of Freedom of expression, being a great ally to the Democratic State of Law adopted by Brazil. Among the possible political manifestations used in the exercise of democracy, artistic manifestations will be highlighted, especially by protest music. Initially, the context in which Brazilian society has developed artistic manifestations to fight against the various forms of repression revealed during the country's history will be studied. Once this has been done, it will be demonstrated the reasons why protest art was produced in the times mentioned and the reasons why artistic production aimed at political movements is still very much used today, becoming a social phenomenon. From there, the broad scope of this political-cultural manifestation and its dissemination among different "tribes" and ages will be analyzed. Of great importance is the use of the media as an instrument to disseminate cultural heritages resulting from historical periods of strong political activity in society, as well as contributing to the union of the population and facilitating the production of the contents used in the various protest movements. In order to study the wide participation of the young people in the movements in question, an interview was conducted with pre-defined questions with the artist from Brazil, Gabriela Brown - activist of the feminist and LGBT movement in the State of Espírito Santo. From the analysis of the mentioned interview, of songs written by the artist and the reports of her participation in political movements, the use of protest music as a democratic instrument capable of uniting differences and achieving equality through a feeling of recognition with the speech adopted.
