Cidades desiguais: análises sobre as dificuldades para efetivação do direito à cidade nas favelas brasileiras

Abstract

The main objective of this work is to analyze the urbanization process from the theoretical understandings of Henry Lefebvre and David Harvey regarding the production of space, the influences of the capitalist mode of production and the conception of the right to the city. Such discussion will permeate the legislative advances observed in Brazil, mainly with regard to the City Statute, and the yearnings that emanate from this legal text. From there, understand the history land segregation of the most rotten classes, which is reflected in the structure of the social spaces and access to decent housing. Finally, it will analyze the importance of public power in the implementation of public policies capable of stopping the process of perceived segregation in urban centers, as well as a study of cases in the city of Vitória - ES, by seeking to understand if such segregation is perpetuates over time, preventing lower classes from fully exercising their right to the city
